Aviorama

“Aviorama” is a video performance featuring exclusive material filmed at the airport Leipzig-Halle (thanks to the airport carrier) and at the control tower (thanks to Deutsche Flugsicherung). Also featuring video footage by enthusiasts worldwide (thanks to the Internet).

The material is being reworked to an immersive and dense impression, being woven to visual poetry, to visual music. “Aviorama” comes as a panorama - it is made for three adjoined screens!
It works best in a theatre or cinema as a performance for sitting audience. The show runs around 1hour.

"Aviorama" is the brain child of MFO, who's fragmentary view got attracted by the visual symphony of flickering lights, hurry movements and complex plans at airports.
The musical layer of "Aviorama" is presented by DJ Repeatbeat, a multi-style DJ, whose capability to adopt to different situations made him the ideal partner for this project.

"Aviorama" has been screened Europe wide on well-known festivals for media art, cinema or club culture. For instance at RECMADRID, TODAYSART Den Haag, PAYSAGES ELECTRONIQUES Lille, SPERM Prague or CLUBTRANSMEDIALE Berlin (in parts) to name just a few.

" Escalators pitch together, glass facades melt into geometric figures. People in a hurry. Running through technical spaces, through hallways and walkways. Perspectives changing to the music. Images get to forms - faster and faster reality raises to virtuality. Behind a gigantic glass front an airplane approaches.

Majestically slow it decelerates the flood of images. People pause, get spectators. Oneself gets a spectator. Standing in a club, in a space full of projections, the pulse of music inside one's head. Fascinated by the play of flickering lights, flight objects, control towers, complex plans which get more and more graphical elements ... " [by Plus.Eins]

Vjing demo reel 2008

A studio recording that demonstrates MFOs lastest work in the field of VJing.

Music of this demo is an excerpt from an audio live set by Dapayk from mo's ferry prod., recorded at Golden Gate club in 2005.

The visuals feature a lot of pictures shot at Viennas Prater and in Paris. Enriched with reduced graphics and animations, the pictures rythmn gets strengthened and the musical experience is lifted off into the third dimension. The whole experience is intensified and a Gesmatkunstwerk is created!

Visual Island III

In november2006 the Conne Island in Leipzig held the third edition of their "Visual Island" - a series of events emphasizing the visuals aspect of todays club culture. Furthermore local talents shall be featured.

Next to the well known Pfadfinderei from Berlin, MFO was invited to show his most recent work (MFO already played at Visual Island I).
Music was minimal techno played by Sid Le Rock, Mai.ko and Dreikommanull crew.

With minimal techno in mind MFO decided to show a fast moving, repetetive, very fragmentary mix of common glass'n'steel architecture - pieces and details of urban, functional buildings in the shredder.

He underlined these pictures with vector graphics, reduced signs and minimalized symbols.

microscope session - ru.electronics

In august2006 in Dresden at Festspielsaal Hellerau the "microscope session - ru.electronics" took place. For this the avant-garde of russion electronica sound was invited - Fizzarum and EU | Elochnye Igrushki. Rounded out by Trickform, talented new blood, and by Unit.

Breaks, crackling and jolting beats, combined with russian melancholia created an impressive deepness and could amaze the audience. Not without cause EU are called the russian Boards of Canada.

MFO was invited to create the visually framework toghether with ds-x.org.
This demo shows MFOs visuals for the live set of Trickform.

Once more MFO chose the theme of urban space. In analogy to the music, in which technical, artificial synthesizer sounds get molten into a dense mix, MFO reworked pictures of urban architecture to a clear, exposed aesthetic - the aesthetic of a man-made world.

»microscope session« is a series of events which features contemporary tendencies of electronic, audio-visual culture. It is dedicated to projects which use digital media as artistic instrument.

With its since five years at Festspielhaus Hellerau established »microscope session« and the »microscope session DVD 2.0« compilation ds-x.org and TMA Hellerau cultivate their part of the tremendous diversity of media arts.
