Willkommen zum ersten MFO Newsletter 2009.
Die wichtigste Neuigkeit vorn weg: MFO ist jetzt ein Kollektiv! Kein Soloprojekt mehr. Konzept + Video + Illustration + Animation + Typo + Design + Programmierung waren zuviel. Zuviel für die gestiegenen Ansprüche. Deshalb wurde MFO nun durch Yan Ziegner verstärkt.
Yan ist ein Illustrator und Typograph, der seit 12 Jahren im Umfeld der elektronischen Musik tätig ist. Einige seiner Arbeiten sind hier zu sehen: www.mfoptik.de/yan
Bereits 2007 entstand in einer ersten Kooperation mit ihm - die visuelle Begleitung für CLP auf dem TodaysArt Festival in Den Haag. Diese Show wurde konsequent weiterentwickelt; 2008 gewannen MFO damit den VJ-Award des Internationalen Videofestival Bochum! Musikalisch wurden sie dabei durch Ben Lukas Boysen aka Hecq (www.hecq.de) begleitet, dessen Mashup DJ-Set seine Fähigkeiten als Sound-Designer bestens demonstrierte.
Im zurückliegenden Jahr gab es viele weitere spannende Einsätze für Entertainment-orientierte Videokost = als VJs. Zum Beispiel beim Versch in Amsterdam, in Lille beim Paysages Electroniques (eine kleine, bunte Video-Doku liegt hier), als Vertreter des letzteren auf dem French Festivals Special in der Maria in Berlin, beim Designers Open in Leipzig, auf dem Nachtdigital ... und viele weitere mehr. Immer ein großes Vergnügen!
Auch audiovisuellen Konzerte stehen weiterhin auf MFOs Agenda. Im Oktober lief im Festspielsaal Hellerau in Dresden erstmalig und als Vorpremiere die neue Performance "Kiez Express". Auch diese entstand gemeinsam mit oben genanntem Ben Lukas Boysen, einem Berliner Musiker und Sound Designer. Seit über zwei Jahren wird eifrig daran gearbeitet. Dazu in Kürze mehr!
Ebenfalls erwähnt werden sollen MFOs Videoarbeiten am Theater. Über eine mehrjährige Zusammenarbeit mit Till Exit (www.tillexit.com), freier Künstler und Bühnenbildner, konnte MFO an verschiedenen Theaterproduktionen mitwirken. Im zurückliegenden Jahr waren das die Crossover-Inszenierungen von Oliver Sturm, "Nico Material" an der Akademie der Künste Berlin, "Nico &ndash Sphinx aus Eis" an den Sophiensaelen Berlin und als Gastspiel am brut-Theater in Wien. Welcome to the first MFO newsletter of 2009.
The most important news foremost: MFO is now a collective! No more a solo project. Concept + video + illlustration + animation + typo + programming was too much for a single artist with high demands. So Yan Ziegner joined MFO.
Yan is an illustrator and typographer, who has been working in the field of contemporary electronic music for more than 12 years. Some of his work can be seen here: www.mfoptik.de/yan
In 2007 has already been a collaboration with him under name of MFO: a video show for CLP, which has been played at TodaysArt Festival in The Hague. This show got consequently improved in 2008 and MFO could win the VJ award at Int. Videofestival Bochum with it. Music wise they got backed up by Ben Lukas Boysen aka Hecq (www.hecq.de). He played a special mashup dj-set, an impressive demonstration of his skills as a sound designer.
In the year back there were many more exciting opportunities for entertainment-oriented video food = for Vjing. I.e. at Versch festival in Amsterdam, in Lille at Paysages Electroniques (a tubulent little video documentation is here), as a representative of the latter at French Festivals Special at Club Maria in Berlin, at Designers Open in Leipzig, at Nachtdigital-Festival ... and many many more. Always a big pleasure!
Also audio visual concerts are on the MFO agenda further on. Together with the mentioned above Ben Lukas Boysen, Berlin based musician and sound designer, MFO created a new performance. "Kiez Express" is the name and it is (devotedly!) in the making since about two years. A first prepremiere was played in october at Festspielsaal Hellerau in Dresden. More infos soon!
To be mentioned as well are the video works by MFO for the stage. By a long-lasting cooperation with Till Exit (www.tillexit.com), independent artist and stage designer, MFO got involved into several productions for theater. In the year back, it were the crossover-stagings by Oliver Sturm, "Nico Material" at Akademie der Künste Berlin and "Nico - Sphinx aus Eis" at Sophiensaele Berlin, which had also a guestplay at brut-Theater in Vienna.
